Montreal

Hello Everyone. So, as some of you may already know, we ended up going to Montreal. Shmuely called me Thursday morning at about 10am, and said that I should be ready to leave the house at 12noon. Well, as you know, we don't have a car and so we had to go rent one. The drive wasn't too bad, only 7 hours all together! And the Bar Mitzvah was BEAUTIFUL! Well, at the end of the night, I went to go get the car, and behold, no window on the passenger side and lots of glass all over. So in the end, everything had to be taken care of this morning, since nothing was open last night at 1am! Enterprise is right around the corner here and so we switched the car in for today while they repair it, but the GPS was stolen. We are still working on getting the hotel to cover it, since the GPS is the one and only thing not covered in the agreement for the rental. Thank heaven, the passports were not taken, and my cell phone was in the car too, as well as a dvd player and much more. Yet, they did not take any of that.
Hope everyone has a good Shabbos, and we'll keep you updated. As I just keep telling Shmuely, I guess it's our anniversary present that no one was hurt! Good Shabbos!

Walkie Talkies Part 2

So to continue with the walke talkie story from my last post, being that i work upstairs from Shuey, and he had a tough morning, i made a deal with him, he can call me on his walkie talkie when ever he wants, but i forewarned him, there would be times i would be too busy to talk so i would tell him, i can't be disturbed now. He kept paging me, so to make him feel important i thought i would page him once, so here goes: Shuey come in, Shuey can you hear me?Shuey: sorry Ta, i'm in middle of circle time i can't be disturbed now - call me soon.how about that feeling = LOL big time

Florida Pics

31 years today

Today, Feb 13, 1977 is the day that Rivka and I set foot on American soil for the first time. It is hard to believe that it is 31 years ago. Did Pappa and I made the right decision to move to the States....
Pappa for sure was happy to return to America, for me it was hard to leave family and friends. One of the reasons we decided to come was for a better Jewish life. We wanted Rivka and our future children to have a more intense Jewish life than Holland could offer at that time. We were not looking for a Chabad community, actually if somebody would have said that we would move to a Chabad community we would have laughed and said that is not for us.
But Hashem has his ways B"H and look at us now. We are very grateful for having married of all our children and to know that our future generation is Jewish. We love our Chabad Community and yes I still miss a little Holland, but could you ever see Pappa living anywhere but America....
Just don't forget that your ancestors are going back to the 1700 in Holland.

Iddo and Etta Update

Hello Family,
It seems that at a certain point (usually after Chanukah till Pesach), everyone gets into a routine and becomes more grossly involved in their own personal lives. Not that this is an excuse, if I needed one, but just an explanation on my current alienation from everything family.

I have been working non-stop in the early intervention world. I currently have 6 children between 12 months and 36 months that I work with (with a 7th client coming soon). I love the work and it keeps me out of trouble. I have been very fortunate thus far to see positive results with most of my children and satisfied parents to boot.
In addition, working at the public school has been wonderful so far. I have a caseload of over 38 children, with all but 1 student in the 6th grade. This is nice since I have another 2 years after this one dedicated to the city, so I will be able to watch the growth throughout their middle school years.

Because of the incredible amount of paperwork, timeliness, and organizational skills that both jobs require, Etta has been helping to create schedules, file paperwork, and tell me what to do and when to do it, so I can be as productive as possible. In addition, she has been asked by our shul, which we are in the process of becoming members to, to help organize their Purim Carnival. If that wasn't enough, she is finishing her degree in psychology this semester and is bombarded with research papers and all that mambo jumbo.

My mother-in-law is also doing well. She is working hard on her private practice in social work. She has an office near Union Square. I don't have many details, but she does love her work.
My father -in-law is in love with his new position as a professor at the Podiatry school, where as fate would have it, he has Goldie Perlmuter’s husband as a student.
My sister-in-laws are also doing well. My niece, Alexei Rose, is having her birthday this Sunday at my mother in laws. Feel free to stop by.

California was wonderful (we were there a few weeks back, but it seems like ions ago). We are planning on going there for the last days of Pesach; we will see how that plays out (i.e. if I can get free tickets on jet Blue)
While summer is still a ways away, we were thinking of doing another backpacking expedition. The destination is still unknown, but hopefully somewhere warm and cheap with kosher food, that is pretty much our three criteria for any vacation.

I'm glad to know everybody is doing well. We should arrange to all go out for dinner one night.
If there is interest, I would even suggest having us all go to a basketball game (knicks), I went to a game last week for just $10.00!!!
We can do J2 Pizza and a game with all the kids. I am willing to sponsor half the tickets or more to make it happen. Even if we only go to half the game it would be a lot of fun.
Let me know.
Love Iddo and Etta
Meir, what a wonderful promo you made for the Tzivos Hashem magazine on Shmais, hope that everybody saw it, you spoke fantastic.
Everybody if you have not seen it go on Shmais and see this well spoken promo

We're Back!

Hello Everyone. We're back from our little vacation in Florida. We left last week Wednesday and got back last night. Wow! It was beautiful. A bit hot on Shabbos in my opinion, but I really shouldn't complain. We took LOTS of pictures, of course, and did lots of things. We actually went down there since Shmuely's sister, Rochel, had a baby girl, and Friday night/Shabbos was a US Military dinner and Shabbos in The Shul. Motzei Shabbos was the beautiful Aleph Auction(which is basically done by Shmuely's sister). Hope all is well with everyone. I will post some pictures and videos ASAP.

Gut Voch

Hello. I thought I'd drop everyone a quick line and say Hi. We had a nice quiet shabbos. Hinda and I went to Matti's sister's shabbos kallah. The wedding is Monday, needless to say she's very excited.
What else...the girls have "winter vacation" now through Tuesday. Interesting timing. For me it's not so bad. I don't work Friday, Sunday's no big deal, Monday they have to find a friend to go to, and Tuesday I have off for President's day so I plan to do something with the kids that day.
Simcha has his Unit Expo Sunday night. Each group or unit from school had to make or present something about their unit. Simcha's is Unit Mezuzah so his team-with him in charge-created a 4-foot mezuzah out of styrafoam. the Expo is sunday at school. i think it's only for boys and men?
Have a nice weeked.
